March 25, 2020 I thought it would be fun to do a "virtual tour" of the Napoleon III Apartments at the Louvre for anyone missing Paris right now. These apartments are a perfect example of the Louis XIV style of French opulence and splendor, which I could definitely use a dose of right now.

The Richelieu Wing of the Louvre houses Napoleon III's apartments. (Napoleon III was the nephew of Napoleon I.) I'd heard the apartments were a must see, so since we were there, we popped over, and I'm SOOOOOO glad we did! This chandelier and hallway leading to the apartments gave us a glimpse of what was to come.

Reviewed March 15, 2016. On our recent visit to the musee Louvre, we saw the Napoleon apartments. So incredibly splendid and well exhibited. The Marie Antoinette rooms were gorgeous. To be able to see the dishes, and person items of everyday Royal French life was a real feast to the eyes. The furniture and carpets, the snuff boxes and candy.

Today we visited the Louvre and viewed the Napoleon III Apartments which were built for the ministry of state between 1852 and1857 as part of a larger project to connect the Louvre and the Tuileries Palace, thus making an enclosed square of the Tuileries and the Louvre. As far as I can tell, these "apartments" were meant for visiting VIPs.
